Thompson Named To Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team

AMERICUS, Ga.- Georgia Southwestern women's basketball player Tiara Thompson received the Peach Belt Conference women's basketball All-Academic honor and was named to the All-Academic Team earlier this week.

The All-Academic team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the court.

Thompson leads the Lady Hurricanes in scoring this season averaging 14.0 points per game. The senior marketing major from Pensacola, Fla., ranks 10th in the PBC in scoring average and eighth in field goal percentage (48.3). Thompson has scored 20 or more points in three games this year including Wednesday's win at Montevallo where she dropped a game-high 27.  

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors. oversee and select the teams.
