Lady 'Canes Claw Past Lady Wildcats 76-41

COLUMBUS, Ga.- Ja'Quasha Sesler put up 20 points Saturday night in Georgia Southwestern's 76-41 win over Fort Valley State at Lumpkin Center.

GSW women's basketball is now 2-0 for the season after winning both games at the Peach Belt/ SIAC Challenge.

The Lady 'Canes got a head start due to a technical foul. Jasmine McSwain took the free throws and made them both to give GSW a two point lead. Va'Queshia Hall made a jump shot followed by two more made free throws by McSwain to put them up by three.

Fort Valley tied it up twice in the first quarter but the Lady 'Canes never let them take the lead. GSW finished the first with a seven point advantage thanks to Aleah Holden with a jump shot, Seslser with a three pointer and two more made free throws from McSwain.

The Lady 'Canes kept the lead in the second, never letting Fort Valley closer than seven points and finished the first half up by 20.

GSW Scored 19 more points in the thirds and 16 in the fourth to take a 35 point win.

Hall had 16 points and six rebounds and Chanice Whitton recorded nine points and eight rebounds.

GSW out rebounded Fort Valley 45-33 and scored more bench points (29-8).

The Lady 'Canes are on the road Wednesday to play West Georgia at 5:30 p.m.
