AMERICUS, Ga. - Georgia Southwestern State University junior Jashanti Simmons was named the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
Simmons averaged 15.5 points per game as the Hurricanes won two big road games last week to solidify their hold on the top spot in the PBC standings. A guard from Eatonton, Ga., Simmons opened with 18 points, four rebounds and four steals in a win at USC Aiken. She then scored 18 with five rebounds and three steals in a critical win at Augusta in a battle of the top two teams in the standings. Simmons finished the week averaging 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game. She is currently ranked 13th in the PBC in scoring, 12th in rebounding and fifth in steals.
