Women's soccer loses season finale; men finish on Saturday

Flagler College took a pair of Peach Belt Conference soccer matches from Georgia Southwestern Wednesday afternoon at Hurricane Field. The Lady Hurricanes were defeated 4-0; and the men fell 2-0 in the second match. 

Flagler 4, GSW women 0

Flagler College (8-6-1, 4-3-1 PBC) scored two goals in each half en route to a 4-0 victory over the Lady Hurricanes Wednesday afternoon on Senior Day.

Tiffany Urquhart had a goal and an assist in the first half for the Saints, while Christina Anthony knocked in both scores in the second stanza.

Flagler finished with an 18-1 shots on goal advantage and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.  Amber Bahri saved 14 for the Lady Hurricanes. Christie Reuther picked up the shutout without having to make a stop for Flagler. 

GSW seniors (pictured below L to R with Coach Economopoulos) Brooke Reagan, Elizabeth Keller, Jennifer Pittman and Laura Lowe were recognized before the match.

The Lady Hurricanes finish the 2009 season 3-13 overall and 0-10 in the PBC.

Flagler 2, GSW men 0

A pair of second half goals led Flagler (11-5-1, 6-1 PBC) past GSW in Wednesday's second match.

The Saints and Hurricanes played a scoreless opening 52 minutes, but Joseph Toby broke the tie for Flagler at the 52:23 mark when he knocked in a loose ball in front of the goal from 12 yards out.

Adam Jackson added an insurance score for Flagler in the 70th minute when Conor Killeen threaded a pass through the Southwestern defense to find Adam Jackson near the left post for the goal.

Flagler finished with a 7-1 shots on goal advantage and an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. David Porley saved four for the Hurricanes. Matt Gilman stopped one for Flagler.

The Hurricanes (2-15, 0-8 PBC) finish the 2009 season on Saturday with a home match against Spring Hill College at 3:30 p.m.
