North Alabama hands Lady 'Canes first defeat

The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season, a 7-0 decision to North Alabama, on Tuesday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

After a UNA goal in the 12th minute, it looked like GSW was going to head into the halftime break down one, but the Lions added two scores in the final 1:22 of the half to open up a three goal advantage. 

UNA padded their lead with four goals in the second half.

Chloe Roberts scored three goals for the Lions, Chelsea Ross added two and Tassia Augusto scored one.  Jo Chubb and Nikki Brown had two assists each for UNA and Adriene Aragon added one.

Southwestern goalkeeper Amber Bahri recorded five saves.  On the other side, Alex McLay stopped two.

North Alabama outshot the Lady ‘Canes 21-4 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.  

GSW is back in action September 9 at Hurricane Field against Brewton-Parker.  Kick-off is at 2 p.m.
