Muncy Named Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern head women's soccer coach Samantha Snow is pleased to have a familiar face joining her on the sidelines this fall. Tracy Muncy is in her first season as assistant coach for the Lady Hurricanes. Muncy comes to GSW after playing for Snow and serving as a student coach for the team at Bluefield (Va.) College.

"I know Muncy as a hardworker on the field and in the class room," said Snow. "Muncy will take no nonsense and will work the girls to get them in their best playing form."

During Muncy's time at Bluefield she recorded 52 starts in goal with 356 saves over the course of three seasons. Muncy was tabbed Second Team All-Appalachian Athletic Conference in 2009.

After a career-ending injury during Muncy's senior season, she began serving the team as student assistant coach focusing on the keepers. Muncy comes to Southwestern bringing in-depth knowledge as a goalkeeper.

"I am excited to get into coaching and to teach the girls what I know," said Muncy.

A graduate of Bluefield, Muncy has a degree in exercise science with a teaching licensure.

GSW is back in action Saturday with its Peach Belt Conference opener at UNC Pembroke. The Lady Hurricanes return to Americus for their home opener on Tuesday against the Valkyries from Converse College at 4 p.m.

Fans attending Tuesday's match will receive a 2013-14 home events magnet schedule which covers the schedules of eight different GSW sports, including women's and men's soccer.
