Walker Scores First Collegiate Goal In Loss To No. 11 North Georgia

AMERICUS - The North Georgia women's soccer team was on a mission against Georgia Southwestern during Saturday afternoon's game. The Night Hawks had control of the ball from the start and scored four goals in the first twelve minutes of the game.

GSW put a point on the scoreboard when sophomore Shelbi Walker dribbled the ball past some of the Night Hawks and booted it from about 30-yards out right past the keeper making the score 4-1 at the 15:14 mark. The Lady Canes held off North Georgia up until the 40 minute mark when they scored three more goals before halftime.

In the second half North Georgia put three more in the back of the net to get a 10-1 victory over GSW. Mollie Arrendale scored a hat-trick and helped lead her team to 11-1 in the season and 5-0 in the Peach Belt Conference.

GSW (now 0-12 and 0-6 in the conference) was out shot 49-3. Chelsee Wright made 17 saves in the first half and Elyse Gowen had 8 in the second half compared to the Night Hawks 1 save.

The Lady Hurricanes are on the road this Wednesday October 15 to face off against Montevallo at 6:00p.m.
