Sheridan Scores In Lady Hurricanes Loss

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Emily Ober scored three times and added a pair of assists to help guide the Young Harris College women's soccer team to a 9-1 victory over Georgia Southwestern on Saturday evening.

GSW falls to 0-14 overall and 0-8 in the Peach Belt Conference while Young Harris improved to 5-8 overall and 2-6 in PBC play.

Sydney Baird wasted little time putting the Mountain Lions ahead in the contest. Baird scored off a pass from Dani Pena in the third minute before Ober chipped in her first goal of the evening at the 19:32 mark for what would prove to be the game winner.

After two more YHC goals, Kristi Sheridan put the Lady Hurricanes on the board when she scored off a corner kick for her first goal of the season. Colleen Livings earned the assist.

YHC led 4-1 at the half and proceeded to add five goals over the final 45 minutes for the victory.

The Mountain Lions finished with a 19-4 advantage in shots on goal and 7-1 edge in corner kicks. Livings led GSW with two shots on goal.

GSW starting goalkeeper Chelsee Wright saved five in 33 minutes of action before making way for Elyse Gowen, who stopped five over 57 minutes between the pipes.

Southwestern returns home to host Clayton State on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
