Pirates Arrr Too Much For Lady 'Canes

AMERICUS- Ashley Green scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Armstrong State University women's soccer team past Georgia Southwestern, 10-0, on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

Armstrong (11-4, 6-3 PBC) posted their first goal in the opening 29 seconds of the match when Sarah Olin scored off a rebound. Jenny Allen put the Pirates ahead, 2-0, in the 10th minute off a swift pass down the center from Olin.

After Armstrong goals from Michelle Allen (13') and Taylor Valley (27'), Green closed out the half with her hat trick. Green scored three goals (30', 31', 32') in the span of 2:25.

The Pirates led 7-0 at the halftime break.

Jordan Otto scored two (64', 74') of the three Armstrong goals over the final 45 minutes. Olivia DeJong (62') provided the other score.

GSW keeper Elyse Gowen had 12 saves in 32 minutes between the pipes and Kendal Baskin had 10 stops over the final 58 minutes. The Lady 'Canes added a pair of team saves to finish with 24 for the match, a season high. Armstrong goalie Maggie Carson recorded one save.

Southwestern (0-16, 0-10 PBC) travels to Milledgeville on Wednesday for a midweek tilt with Georgia College at 7 p.m.
