Bobcat Claws Come Out Against Lady 'Canes

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Ashley Veilleux scored three goals and Abby Dalton added a goal and two assists to lead the Georgia College women's soccer team past Georgia Southwestern, 8-0, on Wednesday evening at Bobcat Field.

Georgia College (6-9-1, 4-6 PBC) posted their first goal in the 8th minute when Maddie Stephen scored off a blocked shot. Rahliat Animashaun put the Bobcats ahead, 2-0, in the 17th minute off a swift pass from Dalton that gave a Animashaun an open look as she got behind the keeper.

Veilleux closed out the period with a goal at the 40:29 mark when she punched in a saved shot by Lindsey Knott.

The Bobcats led 3-0 at the halftime break.

After Cayce Hamilton opened the second half with a goal in the 49th minute, Veilleux (66', 78') and Dalton (73') took turns scoring over a seven-minute span. Animashaun put a bow on the evening with her second goal of the match coming in the 87th minute.

The Bobcats finished with a 27-3 advantage in shots on goal and 14-0 edge in corner kicks. Haley Oubre led GSW with two shots on goal.

GSW starting goalkeeper Elyse Gowen saved 12 in 45 minutes of action before making way for Chelsee Wright, who stopped seven over 45 minutes between the pipes. Georgia College starting goalie Meredith Cason played 12 minutes without seeing a shot before Jessica Catapano replaced her for the final 78 minutes and recorded three saves.

Southwestern (0-17, 0-11 PBC) hosts Shorter University on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Lady Hurricanes' season finale.
