Gowen Saves 10 In First Half; GSW Falls 5-0

AMERICUS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team (2-6, 0-3 PBC) fell to Flagler College (4-1-1, 2-1 PBC) 5-0 Wednesday evening at Hurricane Field.

Flager's first goal came ten minutes into the first half from Jess Fassnidge off a quick dribble and pass down the right side of the field. GSW battled with the quick pace of Saints for over 30 minutes until their second goal game with five mites left from Grace Rineer off a cross.

The Lady 'Canes were able to hold off the Saints for the first 15 minutes of the second half until Cassie Fernandez booted one into the back of the net over the keepers reach. Five minutes later Flager got another goal and the fifth was scored seconds later.

Elyse Gowen made ten saves for GSW in the first half. Emily Jones made six saves in the second half but was taken out with an injury with less than two minutes remaining. Chelsee Wright subbed in for Emily and made one save.

Mercedes Benitez, Ella Hawkins and Neeli Fortson all had shots on goal for the Lady 'Canes.

The Lady 'Canes are on teh road Saturday for face USC Aiken at 1:00 p.m.
