Gowen Makes Season High 16 Saves

AMERICUS, Ga.- Young Harris (4-7, 2-5 PBC) was able to score a late first half goal to get the momentum for a 3-0 win over Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team (2-10, 0-7 PBC) Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

The Lady 'Canes defense held tight against the Mountain Lions in the first half, only allowing seven shots on goal and letting just one slip through. Young Harris scored their first goal with four minutes remaining off a loose ball in front of the net to head into the second half 1-0.

The second goal for Young Harris came at the 56:59 mark from Sydney Baird with a kick right outside the box and in at the top right corner over the keepers reach. The third was at the 79:36 mark off a cross in front of the net.

Ella Hawkins, Neeli Fortson and Shatyriah Crawford all had shots on goal for GSW.

Elyse Gowen played all 90 minutes for GSW and made 16 saves, the second most she has ever made in a game. Her career high is 20 which she made against Clayton on Oct. 22 2014.

The Lady 'Canes are on the road Wednesday to play against Clayton State at 5:00 p.m.
