Endreson Scores 1st Collegiate Goal

MORROW, Ga.- The last time the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team scored against Clayton State was in 2009 and Wednesday night the ladies scored twice in a 7-2 loss at Laker Field.

The Lady 'Canes played a hard and fast first half, only allowing five shots on goal and countering with three of their own. Drew Endreson put the first point on the scoreboard when she scored her first collegiate goal at the 27:30 mark with an assist from Avery Heid.

Clayton answered 30 seconds later with their first goal off a cross from the left side that was driven into the back of the net to head into the second half 1-1.

Clayton found a rhythm and put six more shots in the net in the second half. Their second came from outside the box to the back left corner out of the keepers reach. The third was scored off a breakaway, the fourth was headed in off a corner kick, the fifth was put in after peppering the keeper and the sixth was off a pass down the left side.

The Lady 'Canes kept up a good pace along side Clayton and kept the pressure going. Kristin McDonald stole the ball and passed it to Ella Hawkins who dribbled it through the Clayton State defense and shot it past the keeper to get GSW's second goal. Clayton scored their last goal ten minutes later to win 7-2.

The last time GSW women's soccer scored two goals in a conference game was in 2011 against Columbus.

Elyse Gowen had 11 saves in her 72:14 minutes of playing which puts her at 89 saves for the year with three games left.

Emily Jones made three saves in the 17:46 minutes she was between the pipes.

The Lady 'Canes are on the road Saturday to play Armstrong at 3:30 p.m.
