Bobcats Score Early And Late To Defeat GSW

MILLEDGEVILL, Ga.-  The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team surrendered a goal less than one minute into Saturday's match against Georgia College to fall behind early in their 5-0 loss.

GSW lost its seventh straight match and drops to 3-10 overall and 0-8 in the Peach Belt Conference, while Georgia College moved to 5-4-1 and 2-4 PBC.

The Bobcats first goal came 52 seconds into the match off a cross from the middle of the key and was chipped in over the keepers head. Their second goal came in the 26th minute off a free kick and was deflected off the keeper.

The Lady 'Canes played good defence for the remainder of the first half and kept the Bobcats at bay to head into halftime 2-0.

GSW was able to play even with Georgia College for most of the second half until the Bobcats scored their third goal off a free kick in the 73rd minute.

The Lady 'Canes tried to put pressure on the Bobcats and were able to told them off up until the 84th minute when they scored off a cross from the middle and then again three minutes later to take a 5-0 victory over GSW.

GSW finished with 10 shots, seven of which were on goal while Georgia College recorded 25 shots, 11 on goal.

Elyse Gowen played all 90 minutes between the pipes, faced 11 shots and made six saves.

The Lady Hurricanes return home on Wednesday for a conference match against North Georgia College at 1 p.m.
