Lady Canes Drop 2017 Road Opener at MGA

COCHRAN, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team fell 5-1 in their first road game of the season Friday at Middle Georgia State University in front of 200 at NeSmith Field.

Senior midfielder Sholeh Rezaee was able to find the back of the net for the Hurricanes' only goal of the game in the 79th minute. Rezaee received the ball at the top of the 18 and finished with a nice shot over the head of MGSU goalkeeper Jayda Newton.

The Knights jumped on GSW (0-2-0) early when Jade Washington scored the first goal of the game in the third minute. MGA would add two more first half goals, both scored by Sam Silva to take a 3-0 lead into the half.

Middle Georgia State (2-3-0) scored second half goals in the 46th and 51st minute to make it a five goal advantage before Rezaee got the Lady Canes on the scoreboard.

It was Rezaee's second career goal and first since her freshman season when she scored against Converse College.

The Hurricanes were outshot 22-5 by the Knights, including 15-4 in shots on goal.
