Six Lady Hurricanes Make 2017 PBC All-Academic Team

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team placed six players on the 2017 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team announced by the league Wednesday.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

The Lady Hurricanes had two athletes make the All-Academic team for a third time, senior Sholeh Rezaee (3.67 Psychology) and senior Haley West (3.66 Exercise Science). Senior Mercedes Benites (3.949 Political Science) and junior Ella Hawkins (3.35 Management) made their second appearance on the team, while senior Jessica Bingham (3.32 Exercise Science) and sophomore Michelle Gustavsen (4.00 Nursing) received their first nomination.
