Bain Scores First Collegiate Goal as Lady Hurricanes Ties

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Freshman women's soccer player Reilley Bain netted her first collegiate goal in the 57th minute to give Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, USC Aiken never let up, scoring the tieing goal in the 87th minute as both teams tied 1-1 in double overtime during Monday's Peach Belt Conference match on Hurricane Field.

After going scoreless for the first half, Bain netted GSW's (0-3-1 PBC) first goal of the season in the second half. She drove the ball down field and won the 1v1, where she shot the ball with her left foot right over the Pacer's goalkeepers head as it bounced right in. USCA was able to get a hand on it but it wasn't enough to stop the ball.

Unfortunately, in the 82nd minute, USCA (1-2-1) returned the favor and tied the game 1-1 as Caroline Czarnecki scored when she shot the ball that rolled right under Trinity Chastain for the goal.

In overtime, the Lady Hurricanes outshot the Pacers 5-2 but couldn't quit get one to land in.

Bain led GSW with four shots, as all of them finished on goal. Emma Carter finished with two shots on goal while Marina Augugliaro and Elizabeth Taliaferro both finished with two shots each.

USCA held a 25-11 shot advantage to end the game. Both teams finished with nine shots on goal and eight saves but the Pacers led with five corner kicks while GSW had one.

Up Next: The Lady Hurricanes will host Francis Marion in a rescheduled match on Thursday, March 25 on Hurricane Field at 7 p.m.
