Lady Hurricanes Retool for a Tournament Run

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University head women's soccer coach Kerry Edwards has signed seven players to her 2023 class. Georgia Southwestern's 2023 class is loaded with talent from different states and features four players from the state of Georgia. The class also features a Division I transfer and two international players and adds to a roster that kept its core from the 2022 season.

 

     Phoebe Whalley

  • Played for Eastleigh FC under coach Rafa Citron
  • Whalley is a freshman midfielder from Dorset, England                                                                                               

 Jackie Stokes 

  • Stokes comes to GSW as a transfer from Arkansas Pine-Bluff University
  • With the Golden Lions Stokes was named the All-SWAC forward of the week three times
  • Scored 100 goals in high school
  • Stokes received the PA Sportsmanship Award
  • Named team MVP three times
  • Stokes was named All-Conference three times
  • Played for Coach Oisin Crean at IMG Academy and made it to the national quarterfinals
  • She led the Golden Lions in scoring
  • Stokes was named athlete of the week twice while attending Laramie Community College
  • Stokes is a junior forward from Decatur, Ga.

 Ellie Carrington

  • Carrington scored 23 goals as a senior and was her team's leading scorer during the 2022-23 season
  • Played for FL Celtic FC coached by George Gomes
  • Carrington is a freshman forward from Seminole, Fla.

 Toni Clark 

  • Clark was named team MVP her senior season
  • She was named Best defensive player her junior year
  • Scholar Athlete of the Week
  • Student-Athlete of the Week
  • Highest GPA for Winter Sports in County all four years
  • All-County First Team in 2021 and 2022
  • All-County Second Team in 2020
  • Graduated with Distinction 4.5 GPA
  • Played for Concorde Fire SC and was coached by current GSW assistant women's coach Miguel Galindo
  • Clark is a freshman defender from Lynn Haven, Fla.

 Alana Beddow

  • Beddow recorded 70 saves as a sophomore 
  • She recorded 145 saves, and had a .548 GAA her junior season
  • Beddow recorded 109 saves, .954 GAA, and 8 shutouts during her senior season
  • Beddow was awarded First and Excellence Honors
  • Named first team All-Region
  • All-Region defensive player of the year
  • Named team MVP
  • Team Golden Glove Award 
  • Named team captain
  • Beddow was nominated for Female Soccer Player of the Year 
  • Played for Savannah United and coached by Mike Powers
  • The team was selected for the ODP South Regional Pool
  • Beddow is a freshman goalkeeper from Savannah, Ga.

 Maci Dunlap

  • Dunlap joins GSW as a transfer from NCAA Division I Georgia Southern 
  • Named captain junior and senior year in high school 
  • Dunlap recorded 16 assists and 22 goals in high school
  • Named Freshman of the Year & First Team All-Region in high school 
  • Named First Team All-Region
  • Named team MVP and Region defensive player of the year
  • As a senior Dunlap was named to the preseason and postseason All-Region team
  • She was named Captain of the Year
  • She was named Defensive Player of the Year
  • GHSA region Defensive Player of the Year
  • Played for Gwinnett Soccer Academy and Concorde Fire
  • 2019 ECNL National Champions
  • Dunlap is a sophomore defender from Warner Robins, Ga.

 Siara Moore

  • Played for Tormenta FC coached by Jim Robbins
  • Won the USYS Presidential Cup
  • Moore is a freshman forward from Hinesville, Ga.

  • Named St. Augustine Sportsperson of the Year
  • Rossall David Stockton Award winner
  • Sophia is a freshman from Blackburn, England
