AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team extended its current winning streak to three matches after cruising past West Georgia, 9-0, on Friday morning at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. The Lady Hurricanes lost only one game in three doubles matches and six games in 12 sets of singles play.

The win on Friday caps a terrific week by the GSW squad after the Lady Hurricanes picked up victories against UNC Pembroke on Sunday, 5-4, and at Albany State on Monday, 9-0.

Leady Cuellar improved her singles record to 11-6 this spring with a 6-0, 6-0 win over West Georgia's Amanda Stewart at No. 1.

Mollie McGowan also stands at 11-6 in singles after her 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5 against Kelsey Bowman.

Melinda Vansant improved her team-high win total to 13 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6. Vansant is now 13-3.

A pair of GSW doubles teams maintain winning records after their victories today. Cuellar and Ginny Jones are 10-8 overall at No. 1, after defeating Stewart and Abby Gates, 8-0. McGowan and Brooke Anglin improve to 9-5 with an 8-1 victory at No. 3 over Bowman and Erica Smith.  

Southwestern returns to action on Friday, Mar. 25 with a Peach Belt Conference match at Augusta State.
