GSW Battles Stomach Viruses And Spartans

AMERICUS - With two of its top players out of the lineup due to a stomach virus, the Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team could do little to prevent 15th-ranked Tampa from rolling to a 9-0 win on Friday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.

UT improves to 8-3 this spring while GSW dips to 5-8.

The Lady 'Canes top showing in the opening doubles matches came at No. 1 where Kalie Douberly and Taylor Jones lost 8-5.

Victoria Ondo had GSW's strongest singles performance, losing at No. 2 to Lauren Hewett, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).

Southwestern returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday with a 3 p.m. match at Montevallo.
