GSW Women's Tennis Hurricane Highlight #1: A Senior's Shining Example

AMERICUS - The top Hurricane Highlight of the 2013 women's tennis season was accomplished by senior Mollie McGowan.

McGowan, a two sport athlete who also ran cross country for GSW, completed a stellar year academically for the Lady Hurricanes and was named to the women's tennis All-PBC Academic team.

McGowan, an Americus native, finished third on the team in singles victories (10-10) for the 2013 season.

The senior finished her final season with a 3.974 GPA. At Southwestern's end of the year athletic banquet, McGowan was honored with the Susan Kay Smith award that goes to the senior female athlete who is the best all-around representative of GSW Athletics.

An excercise science major, she was also honored as GSW's Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.
