Tennis Completes Season Sweep Of Fort Valley State

FORT VALLEY, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team combined to drop only seven games across singles and doubles play in a 9-0 win over Fort Valley State on Friday afternoon at the FVSU Tennis Courts. The GSW men almost matched the Lady Hurricanes, as they lost 10 games collectively en route to their 9-0 victory.

Charli Allen, Oliver Marshall, Joel Landis and Jonathan Martin did not lose a game all afternoon over doubles and singles play. 

The men improved their record to 4-6 this spring, while the ladies improved to 4-7.


GSW MEN 9, FORT VALLEY STATE 0

Joel Landis at No. 4, Oliver Marshall at No. 5 and Jonathan Martin at No. 6 did not lose a game in singles action. Landis rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win and, with the team decision already decided, Marshall and Martin played pro sets, each winning 8-0. Steven Blythe cruised 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1.

All three GSW doubles teams won, 8-0. 


GSW WOMEN 9, FORT VALLEY STATE 0

Charli Allen picked up her third singles victory of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Maria Taboada cruised 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1. Celia del Castillo at No. 2 and Hannah Ayers at No. 3 made quick work of their opponents as both dropped only two games.

In doubles play the Lady Hurricanes won 8-1 at both No. 1 and No. 2. The match at No. 3 was a GSW team point by default.
