The women's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team status and put five student-athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list to lead the Peach Belt Conference for the 2018 season.
A pair of victories for the men, including a Peach Belt Conference win over Augusta, propels the Hurricanes to their highest win total in a season as an NCAA Division II program (since 2007). The ladies lost a couple of close 6-3 matches, but picked up singles victories at No. 1 and No. 2 both days.

The GSW tennis teams completed season sweeps of Fort Valley St. recently with road victories and resumed Peach Belt Conference play with a trip to Flagler College on Saturday. The nationally-ranked Saints beat GSW, 9-0, in both matches. Monday brought a trip to Waleska, GA, for a non-conference match against Reinhardt. The GSW women lost 6-3, while the men were shutout, 9-0. The women's team stands at 7-11 overall, 0-5 in the PBC this spring. The Lady Hurricanes seven wins is the most posted by the program in five years. The GSW men's team exits Monday's match with a 4-10 overall record and a 0-5 mark in PBC action.
The GSW tennis teams completed a busy weekend of action with both the men's and women's squads winning one of three matches over a three-day window. Both the men and women defeated Fort Valley State on Friday, 9-0, before suffering 9-0 setbacks at Georgia College on Saturday and against nationally-ranked Columbus State on Sunday.The men's team exits the weekend with a 3-8 overall record and a 0-4 mark in Peach Belt Conference action. The women's team stands at 6-9 overall, 0-4 in the PBC.
Steven Blythe picked up wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for GSW on Wednesday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex against Montevallo, but the visiting Falcons swept the non-conference doubleheader by winning the men's match, 7-2, and the women's match, 9-0.
The GSW women's tennis team rolled through singles competition on Saturday afternoon to rally from a 3-0 deficit and win 5-3 at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex against Point University. The men's match was much closer than the 8-1 loss for GSW would appear as two of the doubles matches were decided by two games apiece and a pair of the singles matches were decided by 10-point tiebreakers.
Steven Blythe and Nacho Garcia de Sola opened the 2018 season with a pair of singles victories to lead the GSW men's tennis team to a 2-0 start with wins over Christian Brothers University and Shorter University over the weekend. The ladies came up on the short end of a pair of 5-4 scores against the same schools.
