Lady Hurricanes Lead PBC with Five ITA Scholar-Athletes

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team status and put five student-athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list to lead the Peach Belt Conference for the 2018 season.

Sophomore Charli Allen, juniors Kendall Crew and Celia del Castillo, and seniors Ashley Denby and Anneliese Leahy earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the Lady Hurricanes. The award is given to all varsity letter winners with two semesters at their current school and at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) for the academic year.

GSW is one of four Peach Belt programs to earn the All-Academic Team recognition, joining Francis Marion University, Georgia College and Lander University.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).
