GSW softball players Mikela Barlow, Brittany Davis, Marylen Kennedy, Graysen Sanders, Sabrina Sieber, Kaley Sikes and Emily Smith have been recognized as scholar-athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2016-17 academic year.
Nicki Levering comes to GSW from South Georgia State College where she served as head coach the past four seasons. This past spring, South Georgia State posted 30-plus wins for the second consecutive season, finishing 31-20. In 2015, the Hawks captured the GCAA regular season championship with a record of 12-2 in league play and 32-9 overall, earning Levering Coach of the Year honors.
GSW infielders Joshlyn Martin and Hayley Tierce were recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) 2017 All-Southeast Region second team.

Head softball coach Eddie Ward has announced that he will retire at the conclusion of the 2017 season. Ward has been at the helm of the Lady Hurricanes program for 14 seasons after spending one year as an assistant coach in 2003.
The Lady 'Canes have won nine of their last 10 games and improved to 10-6 overall.
