AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern soccer teams will host a "Kick Out Cancer" doubleheader on Saturday at Hurricane Field against Lander University.

The GSW women will wear white and pink tops with pink shorts in support of cancer awareness. Pink soccer balls will be used during the women's match. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the event as well.

Commemorative pink t-shirts are available in the GSW bookstore for $10 with the entire purchase price benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The t-shirts will be available for purchase at the field on Saturday.

Concessions revenue from the women's match will be donated to Komen while proceeds from the men's match will go to the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition. Admission is free, but donations will be collected. The women's match starts at 1 p.m. with the men to follow at 3:30 p.m.

Komen is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1.9 billion since its inception in 1982, and is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.

The Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition coordinates, facilitates, and supports cancer control efforts throughout the region to ensure southwest Georgians have access to the highest quality cancer education, prevention, screening, treatment and research.

Local sponsors of GSW's "Kick Out Cancer" promotion include: Aramark, Clinic Drug Store, Domino's, Global Graphics, George's Menswear and Tailor Shop, Harvey's Supermarket and Sumter EMC.
