Dupree Named PBC Freshman Of The Week

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern starting pitcher Earl Dupree is the reigning Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week.

Dupree made his first home start on Sunday against West Alabama and pitched nine innings with no earned runs allowed. The Hawkinsville native scattered four hits, struck out three and did not walk a batter as GSW was eventually defeated 4-2 in 12 innings.

Dupree set down the side in order five times and retired 15 of the final 16 batters he faced, giving up only a leadoff single in the top of the ninth. It was the only baserunner West Alabama had against him from the fifth inning on.

Dupree becomes the first GSW player to receive a PBC weekly award since teammate Corey Benson was named freshman of the week on Apr. 27, 2011.
