Trio Of Hurricanes Receive All-Academic Honors

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University senior Josh Tatnall, junior Earl Dupree and sophomore Will Redding have earned 2015 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic baseball honors as announced Thursday by the conference office.

Tatnall appeared in 30 games this spring while splitting time as an outfielder and designated hitter for the Hurricanes. The Newark, Del., native hit .286 in conference play and .284 overall. He had a .352 overall on base percentage. Tatnall ended the year strong as he hit safely in 15 of his final 20 games, including a 4-for-4 performance in the season finale that included two doubles and a home run in his final collegiate at bat.

In the classroom, the exercise science major owns a 3.46 grade point average.

Dupree started 12 games on the mound this spring as the No. 1 starting pitcher for GSW. The Hawkinsville, Ga., native threw 65 2/3 innings and recorded 39 strikeouts while shaving 2.07 off his 2014 earned run average.

In the classroom, the health and physical education major holds a 3.71 grade point average.

Redding, a Woodstock, Ga., native, started 45 games for the Hurricanes in 2015. The second baseman finished the year with a .264 batting average and was second on the team with 26 runs batted in. Redding became the second player in GSW's NCAA era history (since 2007) to hit two home runs in a game with his back-to-back blasts against USC Aiken on March 7. He added a 4-for-4 performance at No. 16 Flagler College on April 18.

In the classroom, the nursing major holds a 3.57 grade point average.
