AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head baseball coach Bryan McLain has announced the signing of Ben Carswell from North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga., to a national letter of intent to play for the Hurricanes in 2016.

"We are very excited about adding Ben to our program," McLain said. "He is an outstanding young man who will be a benefit to our program and the Georgia Southwestern community."

A right-handed pitcher, Carswell collected six saves for NGHS in 2015 while posting a 1.74 earned run average. He was named Perfect Game USA Southeast Region Honorable Mention and selected to the Gwinnett County Senior All-Star Game.

During his junior campaign, Carswell was the Gwinnett Dugout Club Player of the Month for March.
