Blue Team Wins 12th Annual Fall Classic Blue-White Series

AMERICUS – The Georgia Southwestern baseball program held its 12th Annual Fall Classic Blue-White Series this past Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Blue Team roster consisted of: A.J. Hayes, Alex Kranick, Andy Moore, Clay Patrick, Parker Farschman, Zach Barron, Earl Dupree, Nick Fonseca, Justin Barnes, Josh Logan, Myles Gay, Dylan Brown, Michael Ranieri, Jared Jones, Jarrod Crum, Kyle Spinks and Jordan McIlwain.

The White Team roster consisted of: Aaron Crowe, Ben Carswell, Brooks McDonel, Chad Adkins, Drew Powers, Devyn Newberry, Will Redding, Brett Burgess, Daniel Perez, Daniel Perez, Lawson Stewart, Evan Alderman, Kyle Romstadt, Mitch Holloway, Davey King, Matt Hubbard, Coty Graham, Dakota Long and Dalton Watley.

Blue won the first game 9-4 on Tuesday, scoring five runs alone in the second inning. Justin Barnes hit a double to bring in three and Clay Patrick also doubled to bring in two more runs.

Game two was played on Wednesday and with Blue leading the series White had to step it up. With bases loaded and two outs in the second inning Brett Burgess hit a double to right field to bring in three runs. White scored one more in the seventh to win 4-0 and tie the series to force a game three.

With the series tied and the losing team having to wash cars both Blue and White had to dig deep.

Blue scored a run in the first and second to take an early lead. Innings three, four and five went scoreless and Blue ran in four more in the sixth. White was down by six and had two innings left but only scored one in the sixth to lose 6-1.

For the seventh-consecutive year, the losing side (White) will have to operate a charity car wash. The car wash raises money for the Sumter County Parks and Recreation Little League Baseball Scholarship Program, which assists children financially, whose families can't afford little league registration fees.

This year's car wash will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot separating the GSW baseball and softball fields. The program is asking for $3 per car, and they will also be taking donations. All proceeds will go straight to the aforementioned scholarship program.
