AMERICUS, Ga. - Georgia Southwestern State University outfielder Jonathan Martin was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week by the league office on Monday afternoon. It's the second time this season Martin has earned the accolade.

Martin hit .556 in four games for the Hurricanes with a home run, 10 RBIs and a .944 slugging percentage. He hit .462 in a three-game Peach Belt series against UNC Pembroke, starting with a 3-for-5 effort that was a double shy of hitting for the cycle. He homered and tripled in that game, driving in five as the Hurricanes won, 9-8. Martin doubled in each of the following two games of the series, driving in a run in both contests. He had a .619 on-base percentage for the week and scored seven runs.

The Irwinville, Ga., native becomes the first Hurricane to earn multiple weekly Peach Belt baseball honors.
