Foster Named Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week

AMERICUS, Ga. - Georgia Southwestern State University outfielder Hunter Foster was named the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Freshman of the Week by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Foster hit .500 in four games for the Hurricanes last week with two doubles, an inside-the-park home run and three RBIs. The Hazlehurst, Ga., native opened the week with a double against Shorter University and doubled again in the series opener against West Alabama on Friday afternoon. He was 3-for-4 in Game 2 of the UWA series and 2-for-4 with the home run in the finale. Foster drew two walks last week to push his on-base percentage to .611 over the four games and he finished with a .857 slugging percentage. Foster is tied for the league lead in doubles and is fourth in on-base percentage and sixth in batting average. He has at least one hit in each of the Hurricanes seven games season.

Foster becomes the fifth Hurricane to earn PBC Freshman of the Week honors and the first since teammate Jonathan Martin won the award twice in 2017.
