Moore Named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week

AMERICUS, Ga. - Georgia Southwestern State University designated hitter Andy Moore was named the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Player of the Week by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Moore hit .636 and scored five times over a three-game PBC series at Augusta University this past weekend. He finished with three doubles and a pair of runs batted in. The Warner Robins, Ga., native opened the series with a 4-for-6 performance, that included two doubles, in the Hurricanes 20-3 rout of the Jaguars. He was 2-for-3 in Game 2 and scored twice as the Hurricanes secured the doubleheader sweep, 5-1, and the series win. Moore picked up two at bats in the finale as a pinch hitter and added another double to his tally.

Moore ranks fourth in the league in overall batting average (.419) and sixth in the conference with six doubles. He has opened PBC play red hot at the plate, batting .529 over six contests. Moore has been struck out only three times in 37 plate appearances this spring, for a solid 8.1 strikeout percentage.

Moore becomes the first Hurricane to earn PBC Player of the Week honors. GSW has produced five PBC Freshman of the Week winners, including Moore's teammate Hunter Foster earlier this month, and two PBC Pitcher of the Week honorees.
