Comeback Attempt Falls Short Against Valdosta State

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern baseball team lost in their midweek conference game against Valdosta State on Tuesday night. The Blazers scored the first five runs of the game after a rough second inning for the Hurricane's defense. The Hurricanes would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom half but Valdosta State would score three runs in the next two innings and another in the sixth to put the game in jeopardy of a blowout. GSW showed some fight in the bottom of the seventh scoring four runs to get within striking distance of a comeback attempt. Valdosta State would hold on and win the midweek contest. Carson Plumadore came into relief and pitched five innings only allowing one run with seven strikeouts. Brice Mortillaro kept up his hot hitting streak adding two RBI to his total.

The Hurricanes will head to Lander University for a road Peach Belt Conference matchup versus the Bearcats.
