Hurricanes Drop Midweek Versus Shorter

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern Baseball team lost their road non-conference game against Shorter University on Tuesday night. It was a low scoring battle with neither side allowing much offensively, the Hurricanes had a tough time at the plate only getting one hit in the contest despite scoring two runs in the game. The one hit GSW was able to produce was a big one as Matthew Mamatas took advantage of a seventh inning walk and hit a two-run shot down the left field line to bring a three run deficit down to just one run. The Shorter University pitching would hold on however ending the game with five strikeouts in the last two innings.

The Shorter University Hawks move to 17-12 on the season and the loss brings the Hurricanes to 12-17 overall and 8-4 in conference play. The Hurricanes will host No. 7 Columbus State this weekend for Alumni weekend. GSW has won their last two conference series and sits third in the standings.
