8 and Over; Canes Notch Consecutive Victories Over Ranked Opponents

COLUMBUS, Ga. --The Georgia Southwestern baseball team added to its winning streak defeating No. 13 Columbus State, 8-0, Thursday night.

The teams were in a stalemate until the top of the third inning until Jake Blinstrub hit a two run home run that gave GSW the early lead.

GSW scored a run in the fifth inning on a Cory Lee RBI single that scored Jake Blinstrub expanding the Canes lead 3-0.

The Hurricanes would go on to score another run in the eighth inning and scored four runs in the ninth inning that opened the floodgates for GSW. The Canes scored four runs one being an RBI single from Jake Blinstrub Kalvin Alexander added the other three with a home run that put the game away for GSW.

Jake Blinstrub had a stellar performance going 3-for-5 with three rbis and scored three runs Kalvin Alexander recorded two hits in his five at bats one of the hits being a three run home run in total three Hurricanes players recorded multiple hits the other being Cory Lee who went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.

Nick McCollum had a great day on the mound hurling a complete game allowing no runs as he improves to 5-2 on the season.

GSW will stay in Columbus to complete a doubleheader with Columbus State starting 12:00 p.m. Friday.
