Canes Fall to Albany State in Extras

ALBANY, Ga. --The Georgia Southwestern baseball team lost 4-3 in extra innings to Albany State on Tuesday night

GSW scored first in the top of the second inning on a Victor Sanchez sacrifice fly.

Albany State answered back scoring two runs on a two-run single that gave the lead to Albany State.

Albany State scored again in the fourth inning on a solo home run increasing their lead to 3-1. 

GSW fought back in the sixth inning tieing the game on a Victor Sanchez two-run homerun 

Neither team scored again in regulation Albany State won the game in the bottom of the 11th on an RBI single.

GSW recorded six hits in the game with two players having multiple hits Victor Sanchez scored all three runs for the Canes.

On the mound starting pitcher Carsen Plumadore struggled tossing 3.1 innings giving up six hits and three runs. 

Colby Gordon was great in relief duty pitching 6.1 shutout innings while striking out five batters.

Joesph Roden earned his first loss of the season pitching two-thirds of an inning giving up two walks and the winning hit for Albany State

GSW will return home to take on Peach Belt Conference rival North Georgia (25-18, 13-11) in a three-game weekend series starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
