Four Hurricanes Named PBC All-Conference

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Peach Belt Conference released its 2023 All-Conference teams on Thursday morning and Georgia Southwestern earned four honorees.

Pitcher Nick McCollum enters the postseason with an 8-2 overall record and 2.57 earned run average. A sophomore from Richmond Hill, Ga., he started 12 games with 91 innings pitched, 94 strikeouts and a PBC-best four complete-game shutouts. Against conference opponents, he was 8-1 with a 2.54 ERA. He leads the conference in ERA, is second in strikeouts and wins and fifth in opponent batting average. He hasn't allowed a earned run in 19 consecutive innings heading into the PBC Tournament. McCollum becomes the third straight Hurricane to win the Pitcher of the Year Award, keeping the honor in Americus for fourth year in a row.

Outfielder Jake Blinstrub a graduate student from Peachtree, Ga., was named PBC first team all conference he enters the postseason hitting a team high .344 also leads the team in hits (64) and is second on the team in on base percentage (.458) and has been perfect on defense not committing an error all season. 

Pitcher Rijnaldo Euson was also awarded PBC first team all conference the sophomore from Haines City, Fla., enters the postseason with an 8-1 overall record and a 2.74 era. He started 12 games pitched 75.2 innings 98 strikeouts and three shutouts. 

Utility player Miles Hartsfield was awarded second team all conference honors a junior from Gainesville, Ga., enters the postseason with a .278 average. He finished second on the team in walks (25), second in stolen bases (16) flashed the leather with 53 put outs and 93 assists.
