Hurricanes Defeat Francis Marion

With only seven players dressed out Saturday afternoon, Hurricane Head Coach Mike Leeder took to the floor Saturday afternoon against Peach Belt Conference opponent Francis Marion University and emerged victorious 70-64.

It was a neck-and-neck battle the entire game, with the halftime score tied at 24. GSW's largest lead of the game came early in the second half when the Hurricanes stood ahead of the Patriots 38-28. It was the last two minutes of the game, however, that brought the most excitement. Leading by only 3 points (59-56), the Hurricanes began to slowly pull away down the home stretch, paced by excellent ball control and efficient free throw shooting.

Aaron Wyatt, a junior guard from Maryland, poured in 32 points and snagged 5 rebounds to lead the Hurricanes. He shot 18 for 21 from the free throw line. Anthony Sargent, a junior from Indiana, added 20 points of his to help seal the win.

The Hurricanes snapped a 5-game losing streak to push their record to 7-14 (4-10 PBC). GSW takes the floor again Wednesday night against Clayton State University in Morrow, GA.
