AMERICUS - Outmanned and outgunned, the Hurricanes scored the first eight points of the game and the rout was on as GSW delivered coach Mike Leeder a win on his 43rd birthday.

Phillip Brown was a perfect 10-for-10 from the floor, scoring 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds to lead five Hurricanes in double figures. Talmadge Bell scored 18 points and drained four 3-pointers, Trayce Macon had 17 points and 14 rebounds, and Matt Shaw and Tyler Gunnett scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.

GSW built a 55-19 halftime lead and finished shooting 56.8 percent for the game. It had 20 assists compared with three turnovers, and the Hurricanes made 11 of 26 3-pointers in the game.

Knoxville, a first-year program, went on the road to Clayton State on Friday and lost 113-44. Leeder said other than passing the ball and finding the right guys on plays, nothing can be taken from the game. He also said Knoxville had two players hurt and two others had quit the team.

"I don't know if you can evaluate and look and say we did things well when the level of competition is like that," he said. "I was disappointed that the game was over as quick as it was; it wasn't competitive from the start."

GSW returns to action at 1 p.m. Monday at home to play Clearwater.
