AMERICUS - Led by 29 second-half points from Trayce Macon, the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team punched its ticket to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Final Four with an 87-68 victory over Clayton State in the Storm Dome on Tuesday evening.

Macon connected on 8 of 11 shots, including 5 of 6 from beyond the arc, over the final 20 minutes to help GSW open a 23-point lead en route to the win.

It was GSW's first postseason victory in Division II basketball since joining the NCAA in 2006-07.

The Hurricanes grabbed a 7-4 advantage off an Evan Mobley three-pointer with 16:59 remaining in the first half and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way.

A 9-0 run midway through the opening period helped GSW build a 13-point lead (29-16) before Clayton State cut the margin to five at the break, 32-27.

Brandon Robinson drained a pair of free throws for the Lakers with 16:02 left in the game to pull within two points, 38-36, but an ensuing 18-3 run put the game out of reach for GSW.

The Hurricanes shot 56 percent from the field in the second half, including a whopping 8-for-11 (73 percent) from three-point range.

Colin Slotter added 23 points for GSW and Evan Mobley chipped in 11. Phillip Brown grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and blocked six shots.

GSW's last 30-plus point performance came Nov. 11, 2008, when Anthony Sargent scored 34 at Lincoln Memorial.

Robinson hit 11 of 21 from the floor, 4 of 7 from beyond the arc and was a perfect 5 of 5 from the charity stripe to score 31 points for Clayton State (19-10). Timmy Downs added 17.

Southwestern (20-7) plays UNC Pembroke in the PBC Tournament semifinals at 8 p.m. on Saturday at USC Aiken.
