GSW Men's Basketball Hurricane Highlight #3: 'Shawsome' Relived

AMERICUS - The No. 3 men's basketball Hurricane Highlight of the 2012-13 season came off a truly 'Shawsome' performance by senior forward Matt Shaw on February 7 in the Storm Dome against Columbus State.

The 6-foot-7 Shaw led the Hurricanes to an easy victory over the visiting Cougars by pouring in 27 points on 85.7 percent (6-of-7) shooting from behind the arc. That tremendous shooting performance tied the NCAA-era record for three point percentage in a game by a player.

Shaw wasn't the only Hurricane raining down threes, however, as the team shot an NCAA-era best 59 percent (13-of-22) from behind the arc in order to earn the impressive 96-66 victory.

The 30 point win was GSW's largest margin of victory ever against a Peach Belt Conference team.

Shaw, a native of Marietta Ga., finished his final season at GSW as the Hurricanes second leading scorer and rebounder on the year, averaging 13.3 points and 4.5 boards respectively.

Stay tuned as GSWCanes.com unveils the No. 2 Hurricane Highlight of the 2012-13 men's basketball season tomorrow.
