Tuskegee Hands GSW First Loss

TUSKEGEE INSTITUTE, Ala. - The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team could not slow down a hot-shooting Tuskegee squad in the second half Saturday afternoon and dropped a 58-48 decision in the Daniel "Chappie" James Center. The host Golden Tigers shot a blistering 67 percent inside of the arc over the final 20 minutes after holding a slim 26-23 lead at the half.

The Hurricanes fall to 1-1 overall while Tuskegee improved its record to 3-1.

The Golden Tigers finished with a higher shooting percentage (42.4 percent) than GSW (32.1 percent), dished out seven more assists (15-8), four more steals (10-6) and won the battle on boards (39-36).

Southwestern was held to five 3-pointers against TU after draining 13 in the season opener against Fort Valley State on Tuesday.

Adam Thoseby led GSW with 12 points. Jure Gunjina chipped in 10 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

James Eads knocked down 7 of 11 shots and scored a game-high 15 points to lead Tuskegee. Camden Foster added 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

The Hurricanes returns to the Storm Dome on Monday to host Albany State at 7:30 p.m.
