'Canes Lose At Georgia College, 70-56

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia College led wire-to-wire in handing the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team a 70-56 loss on Monday evening in the Centennial Center.

The Hurricanes suffered their third straight defeat and fell to 5-6 overall, 1-3 in Peach Belt Conference play, while Georgia College won its fifth game in six tries and improved to 10-3, 3-1 in the PBC.

The Bobcats opened the contest on an 11-3 run and never looked back.

GSW trailed 41-26 at the half and fell behind by as many as 21 points, 62-41, with 6:57 to play. 

The Hurricanes were outrebounded by double digits for the second straight game. Georgia College finished with a 38-28 advantage on the boards and dished out eight more assists than GSW, 18-10.

Jure Gunjina led the Hurricanes with 15 points and five rebounds. Adam Thoseby chipped in 12 points.

Terrell Harris, the second leading scorer in the PBC, posted a game-high 25 points to lead Georgia College. Issac Thomas added a game-high nine boards.

The Hurricanes wrap up a three-game road trip on Wednesday when they face Columbus State at 7:30 p.m.
