AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team fell behind by 10 points in the opening five minutes Thursday evening and could never recover as Augusta University rang in the new year by handing the Hurricanes a 93-65 defeat in the Christenberry Fieldhouse.

GSW remained winless (0-5) on the road this season to fall to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the Peach Belt Conference, while Augusta improved to 9-3, 2-2 in the PBC.

Held to six field goals over the opening 20 minutes, the Hurricanes trailed 45-33 at the halftime break.

GSW was unable to get any closer than 10 points (56-46) the rest of the way.     

Augusta finished with a lopsided advantage in field goal percentage (52.8-32.0), rebounding (37-25) and bench points (37-8). The Hurricanes were whistled for a season-high 28 fouls while turning in their worst shooting effort of the season (32.0 percent). GSW entered the evening ranked second in the PBC with an average of 8.6 3-pointers per game, but connected on a season-low four from long range.

Cameron Dozier led the Hurricanes with 22 points. Brandon Price made 14 of 18 from the charity stripe en route to his 16 points.

Keshun Sherrill made 4 of 7 shots and all 12 of his free throw attempts to finish with 22 points for Augusta. Ben Ursich added 13 points and a game-high six rebounds. Tamyrik Fields and Ja'Shawn Brooks chipped in 11 points apiece off the bench.

The Hurricanes head to Greenwood, S.C., on Friday for a 7 p.m. game against Lander University.
