AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball team had no answer for Doniel Dean nor the University of South Carolina Aiken offense in a 103-72 loss Saturday evening inside the Storm Dome in the Peach Belt Conference opener for both schools. Dean poured in a game-high 35 points behind 13 of 15 shooting and GSW allowed an an opponent to eclipse the century mark for the first time since Feb. 24, 2016. 

How It Happened: After working to shave a 14-point deficit to six, 43-37, late in the first half, GSW was outscored 13-5 over the final 3:45 of the opening session and trailed 56-42 at the half. USC Aiken (3-1, 1-0 PBC) maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.    

GSW (2-1, 0-1 PBC) has fired 22 shots from behind the arc in each of its three games this season, Saturday the Hurricanes managed to connect on only four (18.2 percent). On the flip side, USC Aiken drained 12 of 22 from long range (54.5 percent) and made 35 of 62 field goal attempts overall (56.5 percent). The Pacers outrebounded GSW, 44-33.   

In a game where the teams combined for 61 free throw attempts and 48 fouls, neither side had a player foul out.   

Who Stood Out: Quenten Taylor turned in his best night of the season with 20 points behind 8 of 13 shooting. He was perfect from the free throw line (4-for-4), added four rebounds, two assists and four steals. R.J. Sessions (15), Hasaan Buggs (12) and Devin Watson (10) scored in double figures.
