Dean Earns All-Conference Honors

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball forward Jamari Dean was recently named to the 2019-20 Peach Belt All-Conference Third Team.

An Ellenwood, Ga. native, Dean started all 26 games and led the Hurricanes in scoring (18.0 ppg), field goal percentage (53.5 percent), rebounding (9.9 rpg), minutes played per game (34.7) and steals (1.3 spg). He ranked second on the team in free throw percentage and blocked shots. 

The 6-foot-6 sophomore scored in double figures in 24 of the Hurricanes 26 games this season, including 20 or more points on 10 occasions. He scored a season-high 33 points at Clayton State on Feb. 12. Dean was the Hurricanes leading scorer in 13 games and was Georgia Southwestern's leading rebounder 20 times. He posted 13 double-doubles. 

Dean stood out among the leaders in NCAA Division II as well. He finished the regular season ranked 13th in double-doubles and 17th in rebounding.

In the PBC, he was two-time player of the week, finished the season as the conference leader in rebounding and ranked seventh in scoring.

Dean becomes the 16th all-conference selection from the GSW men's basketball program since the Hurricanes joined the NCAA in 2006-07.
