GSW Earns Bid To The NCAA Tournament

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball team was selected as the No. 6 seed in the 2021 South Regional of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, hosted by Valdosta State University. 

The Hurricanes earned their bid by defeating Georgia College in the Peach Belt Conference semifinal game but falling to Flagler in the PBC Championship game. They will play third-seeded Lee University in their third appearance to the NCAA Tournament.

Flagler College won the top seed for the region for its first ever tournament bid after capturing the PBC Championship and regular season title. Flagler earns a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 4-seed Valdosta State versus No. 5-seed West Georgia, while Alabama Huntsville earned the No. 2-seed and will also receive a first-round bye. Alabama Huntsville will face the winner of No. 3-seed Lee out of the Gulf South Conference versus No. 6-seed GSW out of the PBC.

The 2021 South Regional Championship will begin Saturday March 13, with two games, followed by two regional semifinals on Sunday and the regional championship is scheduled for Tuesday, March 16. The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Elite Eight in Evansville, Ind., March 24-27.

All NCAA South Regional games will be played at The Complex, in Valdosta, Ga. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, there will be limited capacity at The Complex during the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball South Regional Championship. A hard, limited capacity of 930 (nine hundred thirty) fans will be admitted to each game. Face coverings will be required at all times for all guests over the age of 2. Fans are encouraged to come to The Complex early to ensure admittance. Doors will open one (1) hour before each contest and all seats will be in The Complex's upper bowl.
