Hurricanes Hitting Their Stride, Win Second Straight

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team defeated Young Harris College to win their second straight Peach Belt Conference game. The Hurricanes struggled early, going down five to start the game. GSW turned it on after the early deficit and roared out to a lead of up to 16 points in the first half. The scoring was lead by Kevin Kone who went 6-7 and scored 15 points in the first half. Young Harris had no answer for Kone in the paint in the first half. GSW went into the halftime break with scoring evened out across the board except for Kevin Kone who was the only Hurricane in double digits.

The Hurricanes came out of the break sluggish and struggled throughout the rest of the game. Young Harris hung in there and cut the lead down to single digits multiple times in the second half. They got no further than an eight point deficit due to timely baskets for the Hurricanes. Jarrett Adderton led in the second half with the defense putting an emphasis on keeping Kevin Kone out of the paint. Adderton led the game in rebounds and was second in points earning him Player of the Game honors. Late fouls sent GSW to the free throw line and multiple Hurricanes made their free throws to ice the game.

GSW will head to Columbus State on Wednesday night and will then head up to Young Harris for their return trip in Peach Belt Conference play.
