FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team shot a 2-over-par 286 on Monday at the 17-team Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate to finish the day as the opening-round leader. GSW holds a six-stroke advantage over second place, fellow Peach Belt Conference member Montevallo.
Nate Gahman led the Hurricanes with a 2-under-par 69 at the 6,688-yard Fleming Island Golf Club. Gahman is in a three-way tie for the individual lead of the 89-player field.
Andrew Ritchot carded an even-par 71 and is tied for fourth overall. J.P. Griffin and Matthew Whittaker finshed the day tied for 13th with scores of 73. Anders Olsson sits tied for 26th, only six strokes off the leader's pace with a 75.
Brian Denton from Wingate and Juan Noce from Montevallo are tied with Gahman atop the individual standings.
GSW returns to the links Tuesday morning for the final round of the Spring Kickoff.
